"Not all who wander are lost..."
But the Draenei youth was lost. Not lost in the spiritual journey sense, she realized as brushed her pale hair away from her purple cheek. It was more a matter of ending up in a marsh. She didn't know what marsh she was in, let alone how she got there! She had been aiming for the mountains when she took a shortcut. Three felines and an arachnid later, she still had no idea. She also had to pause for a flash heal. She perched on a decomposing log, grumbling as she added a bandage to one of her wounds. It refused to close despite the healing magic.
This aimless wandering was part choice, and part kindness. The choice was needing to be something other than the paladin her guardian had hoped to create. Khael... well that man lost his own children along with his wife before the crash. The crash was a hard time for all of their race, and it was kind of him to take her young orphaned self in. Still, all these years later she was still untangling all the contradictions he taught her. Her own parents had been about all about acceptance. Khael nursed a burning hatred for both orcs and blood elves. That hatred was understandable, since they had killed his family... but the first orc the girl had killed? It begged. Then she made the choice of walking away from the sword.
The kindness in her wandering was far less emotion-charged. She took up the staff in hopes of healing. She was terrible at it. It might have been more forgivable if she had been skilled in offensive or defensive magic. She was even worse at those. She could barely keep herself alive in a fight. Since she didn't want to risk the lives of any allies, she kept to herself and explored. She took odd jobs here and there to make ends meet, and wandered all around Azeroth.
She saw horrors, and hope. Beauty and betrayal. Seeing the best and the worst by turns allowed her to appreciate the wonders of each day with new eyes. She was always lost in living and learning.... and in the occasional marsh.
